By the courtesy of the Postmaster we are abto to «upply the vital statistics from the Waiuku poMbttice for the quarter ended June 30th, which arc as follows: Births 20, deaths 4, marriage licenses iitued 5.
The popular song "It's a Long, Long Way tu Tippernrj' had a good rendition at the social held in Waiuku oo Mcnday night as a fjrewell to Mr E. Bsmball, who is going to the war Those preient, more especially the men, sang the popular refrain with great gusto, and probably the "Tipporary" it m was one cf thi must popiUr ot the evening.
■ At a late hour last tisbt Mr J. Cribble received wotd that his brother, Private li. Gribble ot the Ambulance Corpa, who is ii. cue of the training camps, was sinously ill. The information was all the more surprising because he bad received a message shortly before tbat his brother was progressing favourably. Private Cribble's many friends will join in wishing him a complete recovery: Mr W. Niccul, who has taken over tha charge of the Waiuku braenh or this paper, was the recipient of several presentations prior to hii departure from Paeroa, where re was for several years editor cf the "Ohincmuri Cazette." 'lhe citizens presented him with a purse of sovereigns, the presentation be>g made by Mr H. M. - Corbett, chairman of the Ohinemuri County Council, who referred in flattering terms to his services to the distiict. Mr Niccol also received a parting gift fiom the Druid's Ledge, of which he had been secretary, and on severing his connection with the School Committee, of which he was for severe I years chairman, his services were acknowledged by a special vote of thanks.
