WAIUKU NEWS.
Mr Tom Lockie passed as "fit' in an examination of recruits fer the reinforcements of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force held in the Auckland Drill Hall on Tuesday last. The Northern Steam Shipping Company have been compelled to curtail the usual number of trifs mitfe weekly to Waiuku by their scow Pono, owiug to a lallingoff in the cargo traffic. After several attempts, marred by inclement weather, the Belgian Fund Dance Committee, of which Mr A. Linwcod is secretary, held the crowning success of their efforts on Wednrsday last, the hall being comfortably filled with couples. Mrs Lcngdill and Mrs E. Barritall offciated at the piano in their usual manner. Ihe duties of M.C. were exceedingly well attended to by Mr hi. C. Barriball. A dainty supper, enjoyed by ail, was handed round by the men. So far the amount donated to the Fund as a result of the dance is £4 5s Bd.
