ELECTRIC LIGHTING FOR WAIUKU.
Scheme Proposed.
At the monthly meeting of the Waiuku Town Board, held oti Morday r.igfct last, the following letter was received frona Mr E. V. Ashwin, of Waiuku:—
I beg to make formal application to your Board for the right to supply electric energy for heat, power and lighting purposes, to the public corporate bodies and others, within a radius of two miles of the centre of such radius, namely, lot 46, map of the village of Waiuku; and for the right to supply electric energy for similar purposes within the parish of Waiuku West, Waiuku East and the parish of Waipipi. I may add that if your Board will support the matter, the capital required to float the work is assured, and any further information you may require 1 will gladly furnish." Members received the communicstion with expressions of approval.
The chairman and Mr Gribble stated that they had previously been informed, to some extent, in reference to the matter, the latter stating that he understood that, should the scheme materialise, arrangement would be made whereby the Board could take over the plant after a certain number of years had elapsed. The clerk was instructed to reply, stating that the Board viewed the scheme favourably, and would be pleased to hear further fion Mr Ashwin.
