FOOTBALL.

AssociationPukekohe football club contested their first league match against Adelphians in Auckland Domain on Saturday. Pukekohe taking tbe field with one man short decided to play tbe one back game. From the kick-off Pukekohe settled down to business in good style, and after a nice run down the wing J. Latta was successful by putting in a nice centre, and Hamilton Bhot the first goal for Pukekohe five minutes after tbe start. This put Adelphians on their mettle and shortly afterwards from a free kick they equalised with a well directed Bhot. On restarting Pukekohe rushed away and managed to 'net tbe ball, only to be dißallowed. Adelphians got 9way and a nice run by their centre forward ended by adding the second goal to their score. Pukekohe tried hard to equalise and had bad luck by just hitting the crossbar. Half-time arrived with the score—Adelphians 2 goals, Pukekohe 1.

On changing over Adelphians became very dangerous and preseed bard and appeared to have everything in their favour. Pukekohe drove them off but they came back and this time they were rewarded by netting the ball for the third time. It was only the good work of F. Bellingham and Shanaghan that prevented the Adelphians scoring on several occasions. Pukekohe pulled themselves together half-an-hour before the call of time, J. Latta playing a beautiful] game at forward and having hard luck in not scoring. Adelphians appeared to be getting tired and Pukekohe had all the play. J. Latta after a nice run on tbe wing passed to Hamilton who scored the second goal for Pukekohe. Five minutes before the call of time Walker made a splendid pass to J. Lees, who scored and equalised. The game ended in a draw, three goals each. The pick for Pukekohe was J. Latta, who had a day out, being in splendid form.
