PAPAKURA.
PAPAKURA I'UWN BOARD. An adjourned meeting of the Papakura Town Board waa held on the 10th iust., the members present being Mesaru A. Willis (chairman), T. Campbell, U. W. Jone», D. Stewart, W. Crawford, J. Bates
and the clerk, Mr H. W. Gaiasler. The cost of the work on the great South Road, Queen street, Boia road, etc., was gone into and the Board were pleased to find that the total expenditure was much less than had been anticipated. it was decided to order more ■hell tor blinding, and to irake crossings at the Loan and Mercantile office to Buckland'n, from Messrs Williß Bros' to Mr Cole s, and irora the post office to Miss Johnson's rooms. Mr (J. Waterman ottered to supply tar and sand if the Board woald allow their man to do the work of tilling in holes on footppath in front of bis hotel.—The offer wa« accepted. Dominion road was reported to require about 30 yards metal to complete the job, and the, Board decided to obtain the material from Mr McKinstrv it possible, failing which to see whether metal could be obtained elsewhere at a reasonable cost. It was also decided to metal Huia road if tb6 weather would permit. As the contractors in Kins; Edward Etreet do net seem able to completa their cot tract, it was decided that the Board, if it could come ti some satisfactory arrangement re workmen, would take it over. It was decided to order two street lamps, one for the. corner of Park and Onslow road and tbe other for the main Btreet. Account? totalling £l4B 2s 9d were passed for payment. At the adjourned meeting of the Town Board held on tbe 10th inat., the following resolution was passed in recognition of the gallantry of the New Zealand troops in tbe Dardanelles operations, viz.That the Board place on record its deep sense of the magnificent way in which our men conducted themselves in the recent engagement with the enemy when they succeeded under - great difficulties and in the face of rifle and big gun fire in effecting a landing on the Peninsula ot Gallipoli and in beating back the Turkish forces from their first lines of defence. It also deeply deplores the large list of casualties and tenders its sincere sympathy to relatives and friends of those concerned."
