THE SHOOTING SEASON.
The shooting staion opens on Saturday, and a number of Waiuku sportsmen are arrangirg parties to viaitlocalities where good bags may be expected. The usual reports of plenty of game, etc., are again l'teely circulated. A number of parties intend to camp for a few Cays in the vicinity Lt the Waik3tu river, where the rough country always provides a few pheasants, whilst duck, teal ar.d quail are also secured. Under favourable weather conditions the first few days tf the season are always highly-productive as so many guns are about that the birds are kept cn thejwing from place to place, which_. i*'] the sportsman's opportunity. Quail, duck and teal have"] been noted in the vidnity of the] river in large number?, and some , e:jiyable cutings are ai.ticipated.
