PAPAKURA.
On Tuesday evening last a very successful soiree was held by the Presbyterian community in the Public Hall, There was a large attendance of both children and parents. After a sumptuous repast had been partaken of, the company were treated to a programme of music contributed to by the following:—Miss Whitburn, Ngaruawahia; Miss Galloway, Papatoetoe and the Misses Wallace and Smith, Papakurß. The stage was prettily decorated with bunting. The Revs. Wood (Anglican), Potter (Methodist) anl Madill (Presbyterian) delivered short addresses. A number of lady members of the Methodist Church held a meeting on Wednesday afternoon last and decided to form a Sewicg Guild. The experiment of laying Bhells on top of metal is being tried on the metal recently deposited on the road in front of the post office. About 30 yards has been treated in this way two inches deep.
