WAIKATO RIVER BOARD.

Monthly Meeting.

The usual monthly meeting of the Waikato River Board held on Saturday last was presided over by Mr A G. C. Glass, chairman, the other members present being Messrs M. Gallery, A. Lapwood, R. Clephane, G. Bregmen, S. P. Prendergast and J. Cronin. RE-CLASSIFICATION WANTED. Mr A. Caley, secretary of. the Eluntly West branch of the Farmers' Union, wrote stating that as a result of the address given by Mr G. 0. tlregmen, a member of the River Board, on the work and aims of the Board, at the last meetng of the Huntly West branch of the Union, the following resolution was passed, viz."That members of the Huntly West branch of the Farmers' Union are prepared to pay rates tu ths Waikato River Board provided that their land is re-classified to th 6 satisfaction of the Union."

LOAN MONEY. The manager of the National Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, notified the Board that three debentures, Nos. 1 to 3, cf £IOOO, ot the Wakato River Boaid had been forwarded to Wellington and that they had been handed over to the solicitors there on payment of the £3OOO, which sum, less £2 10s exchange, had been placed to the credit of the Waikato River Board Development and Flood Prevention Loan, 1906. He asked that a transfer from thiß account, sufficient to wipe out the existing overdraft on the straight account, which row stands at £3090, should be made. He had been informed by the Board's solicitors that the £3OOO would shortly be available. The chairman said tint the clerd had visited Auckland and arrangek details in connection with the transfer and that it was left to the Board to confirm the transfer.

The transfer was agreed to, and it was also decided to thank the manager of the National Bank for the business like manner in which he had conducted the financial busin2ss between his baDk and the Board. It was also decided to thank Mr Hall Skeltou, solicitor to the Board, for his very able services. OPOUTAIA CREEK. A letter was received from Mr N. Kamsay dealing with obstructions in the Opoutaia Creek. It was decided to apply to'the Government for a grant to clean the creek, the clerk to write and inform Mr Ramsay of the Board's decision. MISCELLANEOUS. It was left to Mr Lapwood and Mr Sellars, the Board's foreman, to decide whether it would be advisable to have an engine in one of the Board's launches repaired, or whether it would pay the Board better to purchase a second-hand engine which has been offered to the. Board at a very reasonable cost, and then to sell the old engine.

A voucher was received showing that the sum ot £'4s 16s 3d, the balance of the Maungatawhiri Greek loan had been placed to the Board's credit in the National Bank of New Zealand, Auckland. The clerk was instructed to writ? and ask the engineer of Permanent Way, Hallway Department, to have the willows in the Creek below the bridge at the Whangamarioo station removed. It was decided to obtain a report from engineer as to the manner of expending loan money for Fokeno creek. GOVERNMENT GRANTS SOUGHT.

The Board decided to apply for the following grants from the Governmentßangiriri and Oneta streams, £100; Whangamarino and Here streams, £'6oo', Roto Ngaro te Whangape creek, £200; Opoutia creek, £300; Maungatawhiri creek, £100; Marainarua creek, £300; and for Hubsiriary creeks, £209; total, £ISOO. POKENO DEBENTURES. The chairman reported as follows:—That the manager of »he National Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, had practically sold all the I'okeno debentures. FINANCES.

The general account showed a debit balance of £340. The liabilities were £250 and the outstanding rates totalled £275, with Government grant? outstanding £250.
