Mr J. 11. Bartrotn, baker and confectioner, announces in this issue that buns may be procured at his shop throughout the whole year. A plain and fancy dress ball will be held under the auspices of tbe Mauku Tennis Club in the Patuuiahoe hall, on the 30th inst. The Pukekoho band discoursed a cupital programme of music to a large gathering of citizens in the old showground on Sunday afternoon. The- Franklin County Council are calling tenders for forming 11 chains of road between Pollok Post Office and Pollok Wharf. Particulars appear in this issue. The annual meeting of the Pukekohe branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union is to be held on Friday evening next, when Mr Schmitt, the Provincial Secretary, will deliver a short address. The matter of the proposed appointment of a night-watchman for Pukekohe is not to be proceeded with, pending a decision from Wellington on an application forwarded by several townspeople for an additional constable to be stationed in Pukekohe.

The Pukekohe District Horticultural Society's Show concluded on Fiiday evening last, when Mr Stembridge kindly auctioned in the hall a large quantity of the exhibits, the sum realised being £3 129 6d. The total amount of admission money collected at the door during the two days was £25. On the 21st inst. the New Zealand Dairy Association, Limited, distributed amongst its suppliers the sum of £38,415 9s 6cl. This cov«red 786,1491bs of butter-fat supplied du'iDg the month of March. The amount disrtibuted for the corresponding month last year was £30,109 3s 9d, thus crease for the month was £2306 5s lid.

With a view to checking the increasing prevalence of the practice of persons driving and cycling along both the town aDd country toads without lights at night time to the public danger, the police intend to take action and offenders will be prosecuted. Ibis intimation is given as a warning pior to the institution of proceedings.

LawsoD, Tuakau. The Pukekohe Ladies' Hockey Club opened the season on Saturday afternoon last, in the Domain, when 14 players took part in a friendly game. Afternoon tea was provided by the Club. Mr W. Grace acted in the capacity of referee. In the prize list of the Pukekohe District Horticultural Society's show that appeared in our last issue, it inadvertently appeared that Lulu O'Couner was awarded first place in the Children's Decorated Basket competition whereas it should have read Nelsie Hawko.

Miss B. A. Campbell, of Prospect Terrace, Pukekohe, announces that she is prepared to coach pupils for examinations in music. Prior to recently taking up her residence in Pukekohe she was organist at the Presbyterian Church, Norsewool, Hawke's Bay, and also superintendent of the Sunday School. Mr C. 0. Marsack, who has been for some little time acting as managing clerk for Mr M. G. R. Mason, and who was on Thursday last admitted by Mr Justice Hosking in the Supreme Court as a solicitor, has joined the Reinforcement Corps. Mr Marsack left Pukekone yesterday for the camp at Tientham A church parade of 30 members of the Oddfellows' Lodge, Pukekohe, and 20 members of the Pukekohe band was held on Sunday la't. The members of the lodge were dressed in regalia. They lined up at the Oddfellows' hall and marched behind the band as far as the railway bridge and back to the .Salvation Army hall, where they were addressed by the Army Captain. After the service they retired to the Pukekohe hotel whore dinner was served.
