TO-MORROW'S POLLING.
" We nothing extenuate, nor let down auaht in malic,e."
Veky lively interest is being taken in the polling that is to take place to-morrow for the office of Mayor of Pukekoke and for membership of the Borough Council. In the Mayoral contest both candidates have had their say from the public platform, and it remains for the electors to declare by their votes whether the account of the stewardship rendered by Mr Lawne at his meeting last night warrants the retention of confidence in him or whether Mr Mason, if elected to office, would be likely to serve the town to better advantage. In either instance wo have every belief that the best interests of the Borough will be in safe keeping. For the election of eight Councillors the burgesses have a field of 17 from whichi to pick, including five members of the old Council. At the public meeting held on Saturday only live of the candidates were present to declare their policy. The absentees, however, are for the most part well known to the electors and their impartial performance of duty, if their candidature is approved of to-morrow, has been promised in their election addresses appearing in the advertising columns of this paper. Pukekohe is fortunate in having so many of its citizens willing and ready to serve on the Council and whoever the fortunate ones my prove to be "Advance Pukekohe" is certain to be their motto.
