RUNCIMAN.
At the Papakura Magisterial Court last week Daniel Perwan, a gum digger, of Runciman, was summoned for having failed to stop on coming in contaet with a railway crossing on January 24th, and also with having pasised over the trosaing on a motor cycle when an engine and train were approaehing within half-a-mile ot such crossing. Defendant pleeded guilty. On the suggestion of the Magistrate ' (Mr Cutten) the second charge against defendant was withdrawn by the police, as the Maisgtrate did not approve of two convictions on the one set ot facts. Defendant was convicted and fined 10s and court costs 7s, and the Magistrate wcn-i defendant that in Auckland n.,.i cyclists and motor car drivers committing the same offences were dealt with severely.
