Papakura's Horse Trough.
[TO THE EDITOR.] Sir,—lf your paper circulates in the Papakura district I would be thankful for you to insert the following:— At the apex of a sharp triangle, and in the middle of the intersection of the two main roads of Papakura, stands a monument with a lamp-post in the centre. I was of the opinion some months ago that it was intended for a refuse receptacle, as it contained broken bottles, sticks, mud and other matter. Since then it has been cleaned put, and now resembles a boree trough. On making enquiries at the hotel I was told it was a trough for the convenience of the travelling public. As I have never yet been fortunate enough to find water in it when passing, I would like to suggest to the Road Board authorities that it be removed, as it is a danger to the public and of no benefit. —I am, etc., TRAVELLER.
