PAPAKURA.

A representative gathering assembled in the Papakura Methodist Church on Tuesday to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Allington and familv, who are going to reside in Auckland. The Rev. W. S. Potter spoke of the valuable help rendered to the choir by Mr Allington, and also" by Mrs Allington in connection with the Sunday school. Thasuoerintendent, Mr Evans, endorsed what Mr Potter had said, also mentionicg how sorry the teachers were in losing Mrs Allington, whose place in the school wfuld be hard to fill. On behalf of the school, Mrs.Allington was presented with a handsomely bound volume of Milton's Poems. Mr Allington suitably responded. Refreshments were handed round by the ladies of the congregation,- and the singing of the well-known hymn "Gcd Ba With You Till We Meet Again" brought a pleasant evening to a close.

Mr J. McKcnzie, stationmaster, is on hu annual leave and Mr F. J. Hoddinott, oi the relieving staff of the Railway Department who was recently sta'ioned at Tuakau, is acting ais stationmaster. A creditable engineering feat was established by the Papakura Town Boarn on Saturday last by the erection of a substantial brioge across a stream in Russell street. Work on the bridge Btarted in the morning, and by niebt the bridge was ready for traffic to pass over. Between Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon the »,ud of the South road captured four victims (motor care) iu its grips.

The many friends of Mr J. B. Young will be glad to hear that he is gradually recovering from his recent illness.

Counsel's argumeuts in the matter of the claim heard recently at the Papakura Court in respect of the stack of osts destroyed by fire will be heard by Mr Frazer. S.M., in the Auckland Court House tomorrow (Saturday) morning.
