RUNCIMAN RAILWAY STATION.

Proposed Change of Site. In connection with tne grade easement works now being carrier! out in the Auckland main railway line it 19 understood that a thange of site of Runciman station is under consideration, the suggestion being that the present position of the station is too near Drury to be of any great advantage to the district. Opportunity was taken ot the visit of the Prime Minister to Borrbay on Tuesday last to interview Mr Massey on the matter. Messrs Flay and French acted a3 a deputation and said that the Bombay residents would like the Uovernment, if they were contemplating shifting the Runciman station, to move it nearer the K_. s. . They pointed out that the difference in cartage from •Bombay to Runciman and from Bombay to Drury would be ss, as it naturally costs leas to cart goods to R'inciman than to Drury. Tne Runciman station was the nearest point en the railway line to bombay. The Drury station was 11 miles further away from Bombay than the Runciman station, and the settlers could make two trips a day to Runciman with vehicles, whereas they would only be able to make ore trip to Drury. The settlers did not want the station shifted, but if it had to be shifted they would prefer to have it nearer to the Karaka. Mr Massey replied that he would go into the matter with the Minister tor Railways. - !T-
