MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Mercer—Thursday. (Before Mk. Fkazek, S.M.) A prohibition order was made, on the application of the police. against a local resident who did not appear. Judgment by default was Riven for plaintiffs in tbe following civil cases, viz.: United Timber Co. v. Ab Vam, £4 2s sd, with 7a costs; Valentine and Co. v. H. Robinson, junr., £2 9s sd, with 8s costs. In the judgment summons case of Valentine and Co. v. Piho Kapa, an order was made for payment of £7 12s at the rate of £1 per month, in default eight days' imprisonment, A number of other cases were settled privately or by payment into court.
