HUNUA.

FARMERS' UNION MEETING. The annual meeting ot the Hunua branch of the Farmers' Union wae held on Saturday evening last, Mr G. Stokes in the chair There was a good attendance of members. A committee was appointed to go into details of the Farmers' Rifle Corps and to report to the next meeting.

Re the Breeders' and Graziers' Association, it was decided to hold the matter over until the r.ext meeting. It was arranged to change the night of meeting from Saturday tn Wednesday. After considering the excellent results of the last rabbit poisoning day, it was decided by the Union to hold another poisoning day on the 26th March. Applications for poison are to be sent to Mr G. Stokes by 6 p.m. on Saturday next.

A brief discussion took place on the question of mail delivery at Hunua, and it was decided to hold the matter ever until the next meeting, which takes place on Wednesday, 31st inst. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr G. Stokes; vice-president, Mr V. Hatrick; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. McConnel; committee, Messrs Stokes, Hatrick, Doughty, Barter, H. McConnel, J. McCrae and C. Stembridue, A vota of thanks to the outgoing officers closed the meeting.

Nearly all the road contracts in the district have been finished and are a great improvement. Since the 'residents 'have commenced poisoning, the rabbits have disappeared considerably. This is a great boon to the district. Swede turnips seem to be a failure this season, and several farmers are re-sowing with soft turnip?.

A long-needed improvement has at last been added to the local hall, in the form of a supper rcom, which was opened on Friday evening last. A social and dance were held in connection with the event, and there was a large company present. Mr G. White officially opened the supper room.
