Considerable enterprise has teen shown fcy the Hall Committee in connection with their concert set down for March 2nd, by arranging frr Auckland's noted Ljric Quartette party to provide the greater part of the programme, As t'cis is the first time such taknt ha? been urder engagement in the district lovers cf good music end entertainment will doubtless show their appreciation by attending in large number?. The piogramme promises both vaiiety and outstanding quality. The plain ar.d fancy dresss ball held in Aka Aka Hall last Thursday proved a huge success. Nearly 50 couples attended, and the variety of dreeses worn made an attractive gathering. In addition to a tine dance programme a waltzing competition aIBO proved of great interest, twelve couples taking part. The prize-winners were Mr E. Urimmond and Miss A. Ilammcnd, with Mr G. Smith and Miss W. Somervihe second. A capital floor had been prepared, and a good number stayed until the early hours of the morning. The supper arrangements and other detail work proved to be in capable hards, and the promoters, Messrs T. Conroy and GSmith, who were M.C's, are entitled •to every credit fOl the success of the function. Music was provided by Miss S. L'owell, Messrs W. Deed, and F. Appleby, The competition judges were Messrs F. Appleby, W. Deed and S. Cowell.
