PAPAKURA.
PAPAKURA. Mr Jas. Richardson, son of Mr W. Richardson, met with a painful accident on Wednesday morning last at his brother's joinery mill. He had been holding a piece of timber that was being sawn by a circular saw, whtn it jammed and forced his right hand on to the face of the saw. After the hand had been temporarily bandaged Mr Richardson was taken to his home on a motor cycle, and the services of Dr Brookfield (Papakura) and Dr Rowley (Otahuhu) were' summoned. On their arrival tfcey found that two sinews had been cut through and the bone Bcraped. An operation was deemed necessary. A masonic social, at which ladies were the guests of the evening, was given on Wednesday by the brethren of Lodge lapakura. A large company was present, the visitors being welcomed by Wor. Master Bro. J. T. Stembridge. A capital musical programme was carried out by the Auckland Lyric Quartette, Mrs Swears kindly acting as accompanist. As evidence ot' tiio high prices that are being paid for laud iu Papakura it is well to quote a transaction that took place last week when Mr J. McKeuzie sold his fruit farm of 2'J acres on tbe Settlement Road, to a Mr Sheppard, of Otahuhu, at £IOO per acre. The property is situated one aud a-ha!f miles from the township. The building trade in the district j is very brisk and some fine new j dwellings are in course of construe- i tion. A new eight roomed dwelliug is being erected on Railway road to the order of Mr J. Bates, and a handsome dwelling of ten rooms, which is being built for Mr W. Richardson, is nearing completion.
