j A Jaree number of friends met at the hali recently at ;> gift evening; tendered to Miss Condon on the occasion of her approaching marriage. Quite a lot of useful presents were brought by well-wishers. Mr A. P. Home, on "behalf of the Tennis Club, of which she was a ! member, presented her with a silver | mounted rose bowl aid epcrgne. |Mr F Condon suitably replied on behalf of his sister. Songs were rendered bv Mesdames McAnally and Young and Mr A. Smith. iJancing wa3 kept going until the early hours of the morning and quite an enjoyable evening came to a close by singing "Auld Lang Syne." A well attended meeting of the Farmers' Union was held in the Buckland Hall on Saturday last, Mr J. K. Hamilton occupied the chair, and a good deal of business wa9 transacted.—A letter was read from the Pukekohc East branch asking to be supported io a request for a supply of rabbit poison lrom the Government free of charge. Although in sympathy with the suggestion it was decided to reply that owing to the low coit cf the poison supplied by the Uovernment the Buckland branch could not accede to the request. —lt was decided to take over the management of the sports, and a committee is being formed for the purpose, it was agreed to substantially increase the prizes. Mr lv. W. Bilkey's oiler of a paddock to be placed at the disposal of the. committee was gratefully accepted.
