DISTRICT NEWS.
PAPARATA.
The wheat crops in the Paparata are in some instances a little 'late compared with other districts and instead of being in stacks are still in stooks in the fields. On Mr J. F. Wootten's property a very fine crop of wheat, already cut and in stooks has long stalks of a good height with heads close and thick. The crop has suffered a little through birds, congregated in neighbouring willows, eating tho wheat from the shells. Four hundredweight of busic slag was sown with the crop, of oao acre. An acre of turnips on the samo property has attracted attention, its bright green foliage spreading over the whole paddock. Mr Alexander, who was in charge of the Paparata school about twelve mouths ago, has been transferred buck to the Paparata School.
