PUKEKOHE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Borough Council was held on Wednesday evening, t*ie members present being—The Mayer (Mr C. K. Lawrie), Councillors Comrie, Hamilton, Hurley, McGough, Bilkey, Beatty and Pollu:k. NIGHT SOIL REMOVAL.
Cr Comrie reported that the special committee, as appointed, to considir the question of night soil removal did not recommend that a night s il system should be started.
The report was adopted without diicusMon.
FINANCES
Accounts totalling £136 Oa 6d were passed tor payment. SLAUGHTER LICENSE.
An application for a slaughter license was made by Mr J. Beatty.—Granted. ROAD IMPROVEMENTS.
Suggestions by Crs McGough and Hurley respectively for the construction of footpaths in John and Nehon streets were referred to the Works Committee. BOROUGH BOUNDARIES.
Mr E. Ruose wai'ed on the Council and suggested certain alterations in the proposed new borough boundaries. Mr Roose was informed thai his suggestions would receive consideration by the Boundaries' Committee. RUBBISH TIP SITE.
A recommendation of the Foreman of Works, Mr CI that a certain site in Helvetia Road should be utilised for the deposit of rubbish was approved of.
DOGGY MATTERS
The license fee for dogs was fixed at 58, subject to a reduced fee of 2s Cd for terriers and cattle dogs, and Mr W. H. Pratt was reappointed Dog Registrar. It was also decided to call for tenders for the making of dog collars. OTHER BUSINESS.
Other business transacted concerned the coming Loan Polls, charges for water and the selection of the day of the weekly halfholiday. These matters are reported under separate headingr.
