SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The monthly meeting of the School Committee for Waiuku, Glenbrook, AkaAka, Waitangi and Keriotahi took place at Waiuku last Saturday ; present: Messis R. Honey, 8. T. Rossiter, R. Hudson, C. Hodgkinson, J. Williams and 0. H. Greenhead (secietary). Mr Rossiter was voted to the chair in the absence of the chairman.

The Education Board wrote (December 17th) advising the Committee that in accordance with the Inspector's report application had been made to the Minister for Education for a special grant for the necessary enlargement of Waiuku school. — Remarks made indicated that the Committee regretted that the additions were not being carried out during the holidays, but on the Board's letter they could do nothing further.

Mr Honey was authorised to have the school tank cleared out at Keriotahi

An application by Mr Hodgkiosou for painting of school p>rch at Glenbrook was considered, and it was decided to get same done, the secretary to make arrangements. Mr Hogdkinson tendered an invitation to members to attend Glenbrook school picnic, which wa9 set down foi next Friday.

Accounts to the amount of £4 12s were passed for payment.

The lopector'a report on Waitangi School (teacher, Miss Black) was very satisfactory. The schemes of work had bee.i carefully prepared and methods of instructions were sound. Good results were secured especially in arithrre'ic and history. The pupils were orderly and industrious and a spirit of work pervaded the school. Tne teport on Miss Sanderson's work at Waiuku School stated that intelligent schemes of work had been prepared. Sound metheds of teaching had been employed aid very satisfactory results obtained, the work in readin? being distinctly go.d. Sandsrds 1., 11. and ll'. and the primer classes were (augr.t in the one tcom, which was overcrowded, aEd the teichtrs were deserving of much credit for the highly satisfactory character of the work achieved under such conditions.
