GARDEN PARTY.
A very successful garden party was held at Mr Robt. Hull's grounds, Awaroa, last Thursday afternoon, in aid of reducing the debt on the OJaua Church. The day was beautifully fine and tempered by a gentle breeze, consequently a good attendance resulted, about 150 being present, rt presents tive of the three churches. There was a large marquee erected on the lawn adjacent to the flower beds, and use was made of a tennis lawn where the young people indulged in that game. A piano and a gramophone on the verandah added to the enjoyment of ihose present. The Revs FusseJl, Barr and Cable were present, and the Rev. Fussell made a little sp=ecb, explaining the object of the gathering and concluded by proposing a hearty vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Hull for granting the use of their grounds and to the ladies for helping. The Kev. R. Barr seconded the vote, ard it was carried by acclamation. An abundance of excellent eat"! ables was dispensed with afternoon tea.
The proceeds amounted to £B. Tbe thanks of the church committee are due to all those ladies and gentlemen who worked hard to make the affair the succeEs which it undoubtedly established.
