AUCKLAND MARKET REPORT.
Mr J. Jones, auctioneer, Victoria and Lome streets, Auckland, reports:—The market this week has been very busy and large quantities of all classes of goods has come forward. Potatoes have eased about £1 to £1 10s per ton. Poultry came forward in very heavy supply, in fact the market wa3 glutted and prices suffered. Ducks and small cockerels were much lower. Owing to the high cost of feed and the moulting season farmers are now disposing of their surplus stock. Butter is much firmer. We quote : Poultry, 3000 penned—Hens, good Is 6d to 2s, ordinary Is 3d to Is sd; ducks, young and old, Is to Is lOd; roosters, prime up to 4s 9d, good 3s to 3s 6d, small 2s to 2s 6d; cockerels Is to Is 8d; turkeys, 7a to 10s; hen turkeys, 4s to ss.
Fruit—Apples, dessert 4s to 6s, cookers 4s to ss; plums, Burbanks Is to Is 9d, English 2b to 3s 6d; peaches 3s to ss, good 2s to 2a lOd; lemons, 7s to 13s; pears, 3s to 6s: nectarines, 2s 6d to 4s.
Farm produce—Potatoes, good £5 10s to £6 10s, small £3 to £4; onions, 9s 6d to lis 6d; vegetables scarce and dear.
Dairy produce—Butter, 9d to lOAd; eggs, Is Id to la 3d; cheese, 6d~ to 8d; sides, 9d to 9Jd; hams, 9d to lOd; honey, 2Ad to 3Jd lb.
Grain—Maize, 4s 9d to 5s 3d; wheat, 7s 6d; oats, 4s Id; bran, £7 15s; sharps, £8; chaff, Southern, £7 15s to £8 10s; barley, ss; rye corn, 5s 9d.
