Pukekohe id evidently recognised by the Justice Department as an important police centre. The town has hitherto been controlled by two constables, but the new arrangements provide for a sergeant to be in residence, assisted by two constables. Sergeant Cowan is expected to arrive to-day in succession to Constable (now Sergeant) Willcocks, Constable Watson remains on, and Constable Thornell has been transferred to Pukekohe from Newmarket
