MERCER MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

At the Magistrate's Couvt, Meroer, on Friday last, before Mr Frazer, S.M., the following cases were dealt with : The United Timber Co. v. H. Sharp (Orton) was a claim for £7 19s 2d. Judgment was given for plaintiff Company and an order was made against defendant for immediate payment of £2 per month. C.Roose was prosecuted by the police for committing a breach oi the " Shipping and Seaman's Act," by having employed an uncertified engineer in charge of an oil-launch, carrying passengers, etc., on the Waikato river. He was convicted and fined £1 and 7s costs.— H. Wade, a boy, who had acted as the engineer in question, was also proceeded against for running the launch f->r conveyance of passengers without the necessary engineer's certificate. He was convicted and ordered to pay 7s costs.
