The following telegram from the Prime Minister was read by Mr Lisle (representing Mr Massey) to the electors who had assembled last night outside the Premier Hall, viz.: —"I hasten to express my. grateful thanks to the electors of Franklin for the great vote they have given me. I felt that 1 could safely entrust my interest to my electors and their answer is a complete vindication of the slanderous statements that have been circulated against me during the campaign."
The election results shown last night by "The Times" on a huge hoarding erected on the balcony of the Premier Hall attracted an exceedingly large throng of interested onlookers, and praise was general in regard to the up-to-date means adopted by this paper for communicating to the public the verdicts of the various electorates. We take the opportunity of expressing our appreciation of the assistance given us by the Postmaster of Pukekohe (Mr Costard and his staff iD their prompt handling of the election telegrams, whilst our thanks are also due to Mr Coady, the proprietor of the hall, for installing such an efficient system of electric lighting for the illumination of the hoarding.
