CRICKET.
A tine battibg display was witnessed by those who were lucky enough to have attended the cricket match played at Papakura on Saturday between teams representing the Papakura Club, and the Broterhood Club (Auckland). Although the visitors were defeated by 24 runs, some of the individual efforts of their batsmen were well up to the standard of lirst-class cricket; as also was the case with the representatives of the Papakura Club. For the visitors Ollis 41 not out, Jackson 15, and Seed 14, gave a very fine display. The Papakura team batted first, and sir. of their representatives reached double figures, viz., C. Clarke 36, A. Evans 34, H. Lodge 18, C. Waugh 12, Merrington 11 and S. Willis 10.
Lodge took five wickets for 30 runs, and Evans four wickets for 11 runs, bowled best for Papakura; while Casper three wickets for 10 runs came out with the best average tor his team. T.
