As will be seen from our advertising columns, Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sots are to carry out at Pukekawa, on Saturday next, a clearing sale of dairy stock, etc., on behalf of Mr K. Dunn. A half-holiday will, in accordance with the law, be observed in i'ukekohe on Thursday next (Election Day), but places of business will also close as usual for the customary half-holiday next Saturday.

Mr Glass will wind up his election campaign to-morrow (Wednesday) evening, when he will address the electors in the Premier Hall, Pukekohe. Announcement ia made in our advertising columns by the Franklin County Council that proceedings will be taken io respect of arrears of rates if the same are not paid on or before the 28th iust.

Thompson for the Raglan Electorate in preference to that of Mr R. F. Bollard. The latter gentleman, he says, is highly respected and has the courage to refuse to be "gagged." The usual sitting nf the Mercer ij.M. Court which was to have taken place on Thursday (election Day), has been postponed to Friday weik, 18th December, and the next Papakura Court, usually held on the first Monday in the month, has on account of the New Year holidays, been fixed for Monday, January 18 th.

The respective owners of that block of land known as "fauranga C," situated near the Waikaio Heads, assembled at the local Courthouse on Friday last in regard to the sale of that block to Mri M. Phillips at £1 15s per acre. Mr G. A. Hansard, who was elected chairman, put tbe motion to eell to the meeting, the voting being unanimously in favour of the sal?. The papers are to be laid before Judge Holland, president of the WaikatoManiapoto Land Board, for confirmation.
A sum of £22 10s has been handed to Mr C. K. Lawrie, treasurer Belgian Relief Fund Committee, by the Sisters of the Pukekohe Convent, as the result of the concert given last week, by pupils of that institution. Together with 10s derived from the sale of tickets by Mr Lawrie, £l2 10s taken at the duor and £1 4s thrown on the stage by the audience during the singing of "Please (!ive Me a Penny," the proceeds tital £36 14s, out of which the expenses have to be deducted.
Mr W. Gundy, chief clerk of the Pukekohe Post Office staff, is relieving Mr G. T. James, pustmaster, Papakura, during the latter's annual holidays at Coromandel. Mr J. J. Maher, exchange clerk of the local staff leaves Pukekohe to-morrow (Wednesday) for Wellington, having been transferred to the exchange in the Southern city. Mr L. P. Rogers, of the local branch, has been appointed to tbe vacated position.
On the double charge of the theft, at Puni, of £8 l4s, the property of Mr William Troup, and of obtaining £6 from Mr R. Pilkiogton by means of a valueless cheque, a young man, named Lochlan Milne, made his appearance in the Auckland Police Court on Saturday, and was remanded until Friday next. The accused, who had been working for some nine months past in Mr Graham's store at Puni, left the district last week and made his way to Auckland, in which city he happened to be seen by Mr Pilkington and was handed over (o the police in connection with the charges laid against hiu.
