OwiDg to the extremely dry weather, tho cream received by the Waikato Co-op Dairy Co. has begun to decrease in quantity. Ordinarily the season should now be in the fullest flush.
Miss Motion of Maungatawhero and Mr Hill of Harrisville have presented St. Jude's Church, Mercer, with a beautifully carved prayer desk Mr W. Selwool has purchased 80 acres of township land from the Trustees of M. and S. Hunter It is also reported that tho Faihvay Department has acquired two sections from the same source.
Tho following is the result of the Waikato challenge shield race, rowed ft r at Ngaruawahia on the 21st inst. Ngaruawahia 1, Mercer 2, Hamilton 3. Also competed : Taupiri, Ngaruawahia No. 2 Won bv a length. The crews wore afterwards entertained by the Ngaruawahia Rowing Club. Six teams are competing in the local tiial fours next Saturday. Good races are anticipated. Crews to represent the Mercer Rowing Club duriug the forthcoming season will be chosen from the competitors. The annual school concert is to be held in the Kiug Edward VII. Memorial Hall on Friday evening. A combined Church of England and Presbyterian bazaar in aid of both churches will be held in Mercer on the 11th December
