District Patriotic Fund.

A meeting of the tiustees of the

Dii-tikt Patriot:* Fund was held on Saturday : present—Dr C. E. Howden (chairman), Messrs 11. 13. Arinitage, C. Hodgkinson, A. M. Bairiball and the secretary.

In reference to an enquiry from a returned trooper as to his equipment, it was decided to have the same returned in readiness for the departure of three other volunteers who expected to leave in the course of a few days. Mr A. M. Barriball reported that the two horses given to the Fund, which were not suitable for troopers' mounts, had been handed over for disposal at the next horse fair. The treasurer's report showed a credit balance of £12.5 12s 3d. The total cash received to date was £.)10 Us 3d, and expenditure £384 Bs.

Discussion took place as to people uot having made donations who could woll afford to do so, ami it was thought that their attitude was not very patriotic. Various meaus were discussed to secure donations from these people, but it was eventually decided to try and get the outstanding lists completed as s-ion as possible, leaving the collectors to do their best by way of getting donations in the meantime.

The secretary repoitel having received a sum of £K 10s from Aka Aka, being £1 2s (id of a cash balance from the recent ladies' social and £7 7s (id from the hall committee's patriotic s cial last week.— Very appreciative remarks were macio by the trustees at this addition to the funds.
