RUN CIMAN.
IMPROVING THE RAILWAY LINE. Mr W. Bagg. s , who is in charge of the Public Works office at Pukekohe, bus received instructions to push ud the work of grade easement between Druiy J»nd Paerata. He ban already commenced "pegging out" operations. There are to be couaiderable alteration? to the present line. A deviation ia to be made at Runciman, the new line passing to the right of the present station. From the dip in the present line between Drurv and Kunciman a cutting will be made and an over-head bridge is to bi put in op the Great South road, as well as at the crossing of the Drury-Waiuku road.
The abolition of the present dangerous crossing at liuncinian will be welcomed by every one. The new station at Runciman will be an island one, and it will be placed south of the present station As eoon as ths work is finished on the Pokeno deviation the gangs are to be transferred here, and it is anticipated the work will be in full swing before Christmas. A CENTRAL STATION.
Last week Mr D. Mcintosh, district railway engineer, accompanied by Mr W. Bagge, paid a visit to these parts. Tljeir presence was taken advantage of by a deputation of Drury residents, who met Mr Mcintosh to discuss the possibility of the erection of a central station between Drury and Runciman, and thereby abolishing the two existing stations. Mr Mclutush said he would get out a Bketch plan and see if the scheme was practicable.
