GOOD EUCHRE SOCIAL

Tho etichro social in connoction with tho Tennis Club, which ovontuatcd on Friday evening, was well attended. Tho prize-winners wore Mrs Rilkey and Mr A. llorne. Two of the troopers who volunteeroi for service with tho New Zoaland expeditionary force obtained loavo to como homo to say good-bye to their friends and relations and tho fact that they would probably attond tho euchre social addod to its attraction. It was hoped tluit tho full number of troopers from Auckland would bo presenl. lint only Troopers Olsea and Delaney wcro able to obtain tho necessary loavo. There are now six men from this district in tho Auckland camp. Tho additional mouibors are Sergeant Loightou,Corporal Ilartland, Private Do Yroo and U, Gundy waggoner). During the evening Mr J. \V. who servod in tho South Afiican campaign, addressed a few words (n Troopers Delaney and Olson, and wished them luck in their undertaking. I lis sentiments woro hoartily endorsed by all present, who ruso and sang " God Save tho King." Trooper Olson responded and thankod all prosont for tlioir good wishes; and apologised for tho absence of his fellow-troopers. Tho two returned to t amp by tue mid-day train on Saturday. Quito a number of their friends woro at the station to say au rovoir, including paronts and brothers and sisters. There was no weeping or wailing and tho men left with smiliug lace.
