THE FLOWER SHOW.

Spring Display of Blooms.

The Spring Mower Show, to lis held under the auspices of tlio St. James Ladies' Guild, which will be opened by the Mayor on Friday afternoon, at - o'clock, September lltli, promises to be a great success. Entries for the various classes have already lieeu received in large numbers from Auckland, Waikato, rukekolio and surrounding districts, and the secretary conlidently predicts that when the lists of the vaiious classes are made up the capacity of the Masonic hall will be taxed to its utmost limit to provide accommodation for the exhibits. As an instance of the value of the show from an educational point of view to this district, and especially to the children in whose interests the show was primarily organised, we have been asked to state that in j one alone, fur o<> distinct I varieties id daffodils, the secretary : has already received entries from | live of the leading prize-winners I and exhibitors at the late j Horticultural show held in Aitckland. This will im-an that it !no other entries should come to I hand, which is very unlikely, in i that class not fewer than -■">o of the j choicest blooms in daffodils that can I bo grown in Auckland will bo on i exhibition. Other sections have also tilled up remarkably well, notably j the various clashes in the home iu- | duplies, the table decorations for j ladies and gentlemen, and the child - j ren's classes. In addition to the Flower Show, a ! musical programme consisting of ! piano, mandolin and violin solos will J be given, also novelties in the form I of action songs and tableaux, rep- | relenting v l Lancashiie witches, - the daffodils, :i) a Chinese fair, 1 Ked, White and Dlue w ill be staged. Special interest als•» attaches to the competition for the child who will, in tlie "piniou of tho judges, lie dressed to best ropresont Spring.
