t'eit. Notes. v By '* Scrum." Owing to tlio military drills on Saturdays the football season is about to close locally much curlier than was anticipated. The rep. mutches in view against l'ukekohe and l'apakura will, it is expected, be now declared off. It is rather regrettable that the season's games should have brought out so many protests and arguments, and the players will be well advised to select a management conmiitteo next season to conduct their business all'airs. Protests and arguments only lead to bad feeling among the players, and this causes poor uuality football. With n management committee, selected outside the ranks of players, the complaints of either teams or individual players can be dealt with satisfactorily and impartially.
Waiuku Rugby Union.
A meeting of delegates took place on Saturday evening. Mr I'. Howe was voted to the chair.
The chief business was to discuss the question as to whether Waipipi Club had already won the competition or whether Tahuna Club had a chance of drawing level. Some of the delegates and the chairman contended that according to the rules the Port Waikato team was disqualified from the commencement ol the third round and Tahuna could not count two poiuts for a third round fixture. Other delegates aigueil that a resolution at the meeting of delegates disqualified Poit Waikato from the second Saturday in tie third round. Eventually Mr R. T. Reid was called in to take the chair. A vote was then taken to decide whether the Rugby Union's rules should be observe 1 or the decision of the delegates as to disqualification of Port Waikato. The result was < vot s against o in favour ot keeping to the rules. There wore 12 delegates present. The decision means that Waipipi team have a clear lead in the competition and are therefore winners.
