BOMBAY.

PATRIOTIC MEETING. On Monday night, August 17th, a patiiotic meeting was held in the Bombay hall. Mr H. Sawyer was voted to the -chair, and explained the object of the meeting. Several ladies were present. After several little speeches, a committee was formed, and canvassers appointed to canvass the district. £57 15s was collected and promised in the hall. It was decided to send tjie contributions to the Auckland citizens Patriotic Fund. A patriotic concert is to be held later. Up to Wednesday night £72 2s Gd was collected. EUCHRE AND DANCE. 1 On Thursday night, August 20th, the fortnightly euchre party and dance was held in the Bombay Hall. As this was the close of the tournament there was a good attendance and some excitement as there were three or four running pretty close for the aggregate prize. Mrs Webster won the ladies' aggregate and Mr D. Blake won the men'*. The prize winners for the night's play were Mrs Webster the ladies and Mr J. Turvey the gentleman's. Miss Merle French and Mr Horace Evans won the minor prizes. THE NEW POST OFFICE.

Tho excavating work for our new Post Office is about completod, and

the contractors Messrs Breggs and Murch have gut tho first load of timber on the ground.
