WHANGARATA.
WEATHEK. The weather still continues favourable for the farmers, who are very bU3y planting potatnea and oats. CREAMERY. We have a change in the managership at the local creamery. Mr P. Waters, of Te Aroha, and who was at Pokeno for a few days, has been appointed to fill Mr Stan Fitness' plac. Mr bitness has been transferred to the Richmond Downs creamery as manager, where we hupe he will be as successful in the discharge of his duties as in Whangarata, where it is rumoured that the creamery will be closed, as a number of supplierj are in favour of home separation. Agents for the different separators have been very much in evidetce here, as many as three calling on several suppliers within two hours of each other. THE WAR.
The war has aroused quite a stio g patriotic feeling in this district. A meetiug was held last Saturday to consider the Empire's defence, but after some discussion the meeting was adjuurned till Saturday, 23rd inst., to agsm try to decide on something definite. I understand that Glen Restou, Stan Fitness, Howard Lawrence and S. Cossey have sent in their names as volunteers, and Jock McMillan left in the first cuntingent as waggon driver. But let us' hope that the prayers of the nation may be answered and peace restored in a Bhort time.
