BAND CONCENT

j A concert wis held on Wednesday evening in aid of the Tualiau band. The band playcl a march before going to the hall, where they played several enjoyable pieces under the supervision of Bandmaster Hall. Before opening the evening'* entertainment, Mr KuKon, in wellchoaen words, spoke of how the bani had progressed since its lirst appearance in public, and hoped it would continue getting better. The first j item was played by band mcmtiuri : who were ho loudly applauded that j thev bud to play a second piece Songs were rendered by Mrs Williams (encored), Messrs Scott, Kernot, B. Geraghty (encore), Williams and Cook (encore); clarionet sub, Bandnmt!r Hill (encore); pianoforte solo, Miss Taylor; recitations, Mcsdainei i Taylor and Cruickshank. During the interval, on brhalf of the members of the band, Mr t'earn presented Mr W. Mensfoith with h handsome travelling bag, hlst a hand bag for Mrs Mens forth. At the close of the concert the hall was cleared for dancing, which was kept going till the ca.ly hours of the morning. A very enjoyable supper was handed round by the good wives and friends of tho bvdsmen. Music supplied by the band orchestra was much appreciated. Extras were played by Mrs Williumi and Misi Geraghty.
