A slight departure was made from the usual procedure in connection with the St. James' Uand of Hope monthly meeting held last Ihursday night in the Masonic hall. In spite of the unpleasant weather about six'y children turned cut, besides a number of old scholars, teachers and parents. Instead of a programme of songs, recitations, etc., the floor was cleared and games became the order ot the evening. The night being a cold ore the young people were in pood form for a romp, and after getting up a grod circulation of the blood were then glad to take a rest and listen to a gocd temperance addresß by Mr R. Warnock, who drew some pointed lessons from the ancient Babylonian history of Belshazzar end his drunken lord?. Following this a hearty supper was partaken of, and a very enjoyable cvenirg was brought to a close by the singing of the "National Anthem."
