PARK FOR PAPAKURA.
Deputation to Prim* Minister. A deputation from the l J apakura Town Board waited on the Prime Minister in Auckland on Saturday to place before him 'he question of the purchase of Chisholm's (now known as Kirk's) bush, about half-a-mile from the Papakura post office. The Papakura people desire the place as a domain reserve. Mr Willis, chairman of the Board, said he thought the application tor assistance deitrved the help o( the Government because this piece of bush was unique and was perhaps the best within 100 miles. Mr Massey said in thesa cases the usual thing was for the Government to contribute £ for £ subsidy. Mr Willis said the Board would be satisfied with that. Asked what price was asked fur the land Mr Willi" said £IOO an acre. The Prime Minister replied by expressing his surprise at the value placed upon i\ It was pointed out that the block comprised 30 acres, but by taking 20 acres the Board would be taking the best part of the bush. In conclusion, Mt Massey said that if the request were put in writing he would gn irto the matter.
