MAUKU.
WHERE SHOULD THE STATION BE?
A meeting convened by Mr H. E. R. L. Wily was held at tha Mauku school on Monday ever ing to consider the question ol the staiuns which would serve the Mauku district best on the Waiuku branch railway ine. About 25 faimers were preseut and took a keen interest in tha matter. Considerable discussion took place as to whether a central station in the vicinity of the Pr sbytitian church, or a station on the road neur Mr W. Guthrie's stor', would best meet the requirements ot the district. It was urged by thope in favour of a station at the latter-mentioned position that certain trade would be secured that otherwise would be diverted elsewhere from this line if a central station only were established.
After resolutions in favour of bnth proposals had been discmsed, the following resolution was adopted by the meeting, proposed by Mr H. E. R. L. Wily and seconded by Mr S. Rowe, junr. "That the Government be requested to establish a station at a point where the present survey line crosses the Union road." This would be in the vicinity of Mr Guthrie's store.
A vote of thanks, carried by acclamation, was accorded the chairman of the meeting, Mr Wily.
