WAIUKU.
MUTUAL IBPHOVEMENT SOCIETY The annual meetirg of the above was held in the Parish hall on Aoril 29th, Mr W. S. McConnell presiding. The past year's syllabus consisted of impromta speaking, Dickens' evening, essay evening, social and debates. There was a membership of over 50. The following were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr H. 0. , Mellsop; vice presidents, Revs. Vanghan, Barr and Cable, Messrs McConnell and C. West; treasurer, Mr F. Fitchett; secetary, Mrs W. West; assistant and recording secretary, Mr A. King; committee of management, Mesdames C. A. Vaughan and W. S. McConnell, Misses E. Rossiter, Woodward and Sanderson, Messrs West. J. Price and A. King. It is intended to open the season with a musical evening open to all on May 18th, in the Parish hall. Some 12 .or 14 evenings are arranged for in the form of impromptu speaking, debate, Shakespeare evening, social, ladies' evening, etc. A RIFLE SHOT. Mr Seymour Bent, noil ofMrR. Allen Bent, late of Waiuku, has been selected as one of the rifle team which ft to proceed to England.
