Tha Monthly Meeting. The May meetrg cf the Papakura Town Bjard was held last evening; prasent- Messrs A Willis (chairman), D. Oodwjn Smith, D. Stewart and W. Richardson. A BaD KOAD. Stokes and Earl complained of tfce fearfully muddy state of the ruad in front of th:ir premises. Customeis complained of the difficulty in alighting from a vehicle without getting up to their ankles in mud.—lt was decided to put a track of scoria down, but applicants were to be advised that they must not cut up the footpaths by traffic and must keep to the one crossing. HAY'S WJLLOWS. A. McCormirk, Opahske, wrote saying that he had now completed the work of clearing the creek; it had taken from Fetroarv 14th to date. There wa3 a tremendous snnuntcf work to do. W. H. C. (Jlasson, chairman of the Drury Road Board, wrote saying if Mr McCormick was really on the job and likely to complete the work to Mr Carpenter's eatisfactior, they should let the matter stand over for a few weeks. On the suggesti.n of the chairman it was decided to write to Mr Glasson asking him to fix a day to inspect the work and to ask Mr Carpenter to be present. THE LIBRARY.

The chairman reported that this Board had power to take over the library; Huntly Town Board had done the same thing. Mr Stewart: I'm pleased to hear it. Mr Willis said there wsa no great hurry and they wanted to be sure they were in the right. He suggested that the committee should be formed of representatives of the subscribers and representatives of the Board. DEPUTATIONS. Mr E. S. Cole aeked if th°. Board was going to do anything t) the footpath between fcia house and the bridge. Ho also said a hole in the bridge needed mending. lhe chairman said the bridge should have been repaired before, but it would be done. They had the Bcoria fir the paths and the work would be completed. Mr Hobbs waited on the Board to see if the wat;r-tablea in tront of Mr W. Richardson's shops in South road could be cleared out—lt was decided to do this work and to put down a truck of scoria on the road where the vehiciea draw up. ANOTHER COMPLAINT. C. C. Tuely drew attention to the neglected state of the road past his place, also the cross raad from the railway to the South road. He had paid £2O to the Board in rent and rates and hoped something would be done. —Members agreed that the work was needed and decided to refer the matter to the incoming Board for attention. GENERAL.

It was decided to take action about a cesspit nuisance at the Papakura hotel. Mr Richardson suggested that Wellington street (in Drurv road district) should be opened for cattle traffic; it was a great pity to have new scoria footpaths spoilt by the cattle. Elliott street path should be protected by being fenced.—lt was decided to write to Diury Road Board asking them to open Wellington street.

General road works were agreed upon.

It wgs decided to write to the Franklin County Council asking them to contribute two-thirds towards the upkeep of Walker's road to the concrete bridge.

"All the stock in the district are living on the roads/' was a eeneral declaration of members and instances upon instances were quoted. The difficulty was to get a ranger. If a man could be got for a day nuw and then to clean up the roads it was thought the case would be met. Finally the chairman agreed to ascertain if a pound could be established in Papakura and to see if the local constable would act. "Riding bicycles on footpaths," was another cause of complaint.
