FARMERS' UNION.

The Mauku Branch. The annual meeting of the Mauku branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held in the Patumahoe Hall on Monday, April '27 th, when a fair number of members was present. The president, Mr T. A. Kemp, presided. The secretary read a report which showed the total membership to now stand at 88. The balance sheet showed a credit of £2 "s 3d, but it was explained that no refund had yet been received from a number of Trading Association members from the provincial office which when received would considerably swell the surplus. The election of officers resulted as follow#*:—President, Mr T. A. Kemp; vice-president, Mr W.. Finlay ; secretary, Mr M. Crispe ; auditor, Mr G. A. Gutry; committee, Messrs Eyburn, W. Finlay, Cuff, C. Ciispe, Howe, Goldsworthy, W. fSommerville, H. Taylor, B. Fulton, E. G. Knight and A. E. Robinson. It was resolved to forward the following remit for the Provincial conference : " That this Branch requests the Farmers' Union to take steps to induce the Waikiito Cooperative Auctioneering Company to extend its operations to the Lower Waikato, including Westfield." It was agreed to hold social evenings in the form of euchre parties during the winter months, the first to be held on May Bth.
