THE WATER SUPPLY SCHEME
The Town Board has placed bethe ratepayers of this township a proposal to borrow a sum not exceeding £IO,OOO for the purpose of providing a water supply tor the residents. The proposal has been the cause of much dillerence of opinion. A well-attended meeting of the ratepayers was held in the Orange hall on Thursday evening, Mr G. D. Smith in the chair. The chairman, in his opening remarks, explained that the meeting had been called for the purpose of affording interested an opportunity of fully and freely discussing the proposed -(heme. Although lie freely admitted that he was in sympathy with the proposal, yet he was of the opinion that it would be too much of a burden upon the shoulders of the present population of the town and that it would be wiser to postpone the matter until the district tad beeu formed into a borough.

A iium- er of ratepayers expressed ilii-ir views both for and against thti proposal. At the close of the meeting it was decided to form a Ratepayers' Association, but us the hour was late it was thought batter to call another meeting to appoint officers and draw up rules.
