WAIUKU.

WELCOME TO MINISTERS. A welcome social to the newMethodist Ministers, Rev. Mr Frost and Rev. Mr Cable was given by the Waiuku congregation in the Public Hall on Tuesday evening. There was a good attendance. Mr C. T. Barriball presided, after a hymn awl prayer by the Rev. Frost, Mr Barriball apologised for the Rev. C. A. Yaughan's unavoidable absence, and extended a hearty welcome to thi-i di-tric: on behalf of the Methodist people. Rev. R. Barr also welcomed the rev. gentleman and spoke of the work in which all the churches could work together, that of the existing Bible class.

Messrs C. West and Chas. Hosking spoke a few words on behalf of the Sunday school and choir respectively. Mr A: Fitchett also spoke as Home Missionary. The Rev. Frost returned thanks in a very happy speecii, and was followed by Rev. Cable, who said he hoped to be able to reach the hearts of the people by a faithful ministry and asked the prayers of all for his work.

A good musical programme was rendered as follows : —Piano solo, Mr Leach; songs by Mrs Fenwick, Misses Roesiter, E. Rossiter, E. Barriball, Laybourn, Rev. Cable. Mr Leach : piano duet, Miss and Master West; recitation, Mrs Charles Hosking; gramaphone selections, Mr Leach. Refreshments were kindly provided by the ladies and a pleasant evening concluded with votes of thanks to the chairman, ladies and performers. DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Waiuku Defence Rifle Club will be held in the Kentish Hotel on Thursday evening, at 7.30.
