WAIKATO RIVER BOARD.
Those present at Friday's meeting of the Waikato Hiver Board were Messrs Glass (chair), Kill, Dean, Gallery and Clephane. Proposed by Mr Dean, seconded by jUr Glas?, That Waikato, Raglan and Waipa counties be written to asking them to help the Board to obtain a plant /or hauling out stumps and willows on several cteeks adjacent to Waikata river. —Carried unanimously.
It wa3 decided to wnte to the Minister for Lands asking him to instruct the Commissioner of Crown Lands,"Auckland, to view the dtains already in the lower reaches of Whangaramino, and to see lor himself the feasibility of draining a very large proportion of the Crown lands.
It was agreed that £SOO be borrowed by the Maungatawhiri subdivision for improving the Maungatawhiri creek, clearing willows, etc. A bonus of £2O was granted to Mr Hallett for the good work he had done as secretary. It was resolved to have Mr Kennedy's last report printed and a :opy sent to all ratepayers for the district, together with Mr Thompson's abbreviated report. It was decided to borrow "a sum of £6OOO, £2OOO to be called up this year and the balance as required. This money is requited for the groins recommended by Mr Kennedy.
A letter was to be written to the Marine Department pointing out that £IOO had been spent on Oneta stream according to specifications approved; payment of a grant of £IOO was asked for to complete the work.
