County Council, Borough Council and Road Board reports are held over until next issue, to make room for general news. Mr F. Hubbard, in response to a deputation, has consented to stand for the Pukekohe Borough Council to fill the seat vacated by Mr W. G. Abbott. An advertisement appears elsewhere. MrC. K. Lawrie has been officially advised of his appointment as a member of the Franklin Licensing Committee, to till the vacancy caused by the death of the late Mr P. J. McGovern. The. Catholic social held in the Oddfellows' hall last evening was a great success. The music was supplied by Misses Pulleng and O'Connor (2). extras being played by Miss Fausett. During the evening songs were rendered by Messrs Stevens and Kicket. Messrs , F. Rogers and R. Lonergau made eflicient M.'sC. Some time ago competitive plans were invited from architects for county chambers for the Whakatane County Council, ill re-inl'orced concrete. Word | has been received by Mr F. W. Mountjoy, of Pukekohe, that his plans and design have been awarded lirst place. | We congratulate Mr Mountjoy upon his success. The Rangitikei "Advocate," in its tepnrt of the last quarterly meeting of ■ the Sanson-Rongetea Methodist circuit officers shows not only that a substantial increase took place in the membership during the quarter, but also that j the cash balances were sound.
