'WAIUKU v. MAUKU
On Saturday (he Mauku Club journeyed to Waiuku to meet the local players and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. Mr Harris, on behalf of Waiuku, extended a very hearty welcome to the visitors, and during the afternoon the ladies dispensed afternoon tea. On conclusion of the ma'ch Mr Bell, of Mauku, thanked the Waiuku people for their kindly welcome and heaity hospitality. The games were very keenly contested, and victory was secured by Mauku by 7 sets to 4, or 83 games to 7L Scores are as follows, Mauku players being mentioned first:—
Mrs and Mr Ryburn v. Miss Harris and Mr Boyd, 9—4. Mrs and Miss Zinzan v. Misses Brown and Barr, 9-8.
Miss Warin and Mr Ellis v. Miss Eckly and Mr Selby, 9—7. Mrs Zinzan and Mr Peydell v. Miss Rossiter and Mr McFadyen, 9—5.
Miss Zinzan and Mr Bell v. Miss Barr and Mr Harris, B—9. Miss Barriball and Mr Sommerville v. Miss Harrison and Mr McFadyen, 9-4.
Mn Ryburn and Miss Wright v. Misses Barr and Harris, 6—9.
Misses Barriball and Warin v. Misses Grimmer and Rossiter, 9—6.
Miss Wright and Mr Perry v. Mitts Harris and Mr Boyd, 9—6. Messrs Perry and Ryburn v. Messrs Boyd and Forbes, 3—9.
Mrs and Miss Zinzan v. Miss Rossiter and Miss Greenhead, 3—7.
The following lawn tennis team will represent Pukekohe against Papatoetoe, on Saturday, on the Pukekohe courts:—Hopkins, Lamont, Wake, Corbett, Johns, Bockett, Mesdames Bayly, Grigor, Johns, Misses Bilkey, Milne and Coster. Match starts at one o'clock sharp. Any player unable to play is requested to notify the secretary at once.
