Another party of 61 farm youths arrived from England on Sunday by the steamer Suffolk. The lada are between the agea of 16 and 20 yeara, and they were selected in England from a list of 500 applicant?. They have come to New Zaaland in charge ot Sergeant Thomson, of the 4th Husaara. Tho youths are a fine loo'dog lot and as they have all had farming experience, they should prove desirable additions to the country's population. Mr K. W. Wood, of the Veterinaiy Department, visited Pukekohe on Monday to rnoculale calves. He put through 100 which came from Bucklind, Pukekohe, Puni, Paeratu and thereabouts. Mr Wood remarked upon the good duality of the calves generally. "There were only two or three hardy ones amongst the hundred," he said. "Hardy?" queried the preasnian in mild as'.onishmtnt, "That's what we cay in Ireland," rejoined Mr Wood. "Jn Ireland a hardy calf it a calf that will live but won't grow!"
